What digital localization covers.
Localizing a website, an app or an eLearning course into Dutch means the words have to work where they sit: in a menu, on a button, under a video, inside a quiz. The translation is only part of it. Length, layout, tone and what the user is doing at that moment decide what the right Dutch is.
On a website, in an app or inside a course, the words are only one part of what people experience. Length, layout, tone and what is happening on screen all shape what the Dutch should be.
Wherever I can, I work with the content in its context, so the language fits the product and not just the string or the slide.

How it works.
You show me the product and the content
Files, an export, a staging link or the course itself.
I tell you what it needs
Including the practical side: how the text gets out of the system and back in.
I localize in context
Checking the Dutch against the screens or slides it belongs to.
I check it in place
Wherever possible I look at the Dutch in the product itself before you publish.
You work with me directly throughout. How I like to work
Why Dutch needs room.
Dutch often runs longer than English, and it builds long compound words that will not break neatly across two lines. A label that fits a button in English may not fit in Dutch.
That is solved in the wording and not by shrinking the font. There is nearly always a shorter, natural way to say it, and finding it is part of the work.
What helps me start
- The content, as files, an export or access to the platform
- Screens, a staging link or the course itself, so I can see the context
- Who the users or learners are
- Character limits and other technical constraints, if there are any
Questions people ask.
Can you work with the files or platform we already use?
Show me what you work with. If a file needs sorting or there's a simpler route through the project, I'll handle what I can and keep things moving.
Can you localize an eLearning course with video and narration?
Yes. A course usually combines on-screen text, narration, video and quizzes, and they need to agree with each other. I can handle the Dutch across all of them, including subtitles or a Dutch voice-over for the video parts.
Do you keep the same tone across a whole website or app?
Yes. I settle the tone and the key terms at the start, including formal or informal address, and keep to them throughout, so the product speaks with one voice.
Should a Dutch website be translated or written again?
Product and help pages can usually be localized closely. Home pages, campaigns and anything meant to persuade often work better when they are rewritten for a Dutch audience from the same idea. I'll tell you which pages I would treat which way.
Tell me what you're working on.
A file, a link, a video, a rough explanation or an idea that is still taking shape: send me what you have and tell me what you want to achieve.
